Meaning of Aitana
The name refers to a person from the Aitana mountain range in Spain.
The name is a toponym derived from the Sierra de Aitana, the highest mountain point in the province of Alicante, Spain. While some theories suggest a Basque origin meaning 'glory' or a connection to the Latin word 'edetana' referring to an ancient Iberian tribe, it gained widespread use as a first name in the 20th century. It was popularized by the Spanish poet Rafael Alberti, who named his daughter Aitana while in exile.
